Bloomberg Spoiler?

Bloomberg warms up in the bullpen for an independent Presidential run.

Is this one of the many dirty tricks the establishment have planned to ensure a Trump defeat? Split the vote three ways, then form a Bloomberg-Clinton coalition?

That's what happened last month in France with the regional elections the National Front were highly favored to win - a center right party dropped all its candidates so the vote was split three ways instead of four, which otherwise would have ensured a NF victory.

You think Bloomberg is going to steal Trump votes? If anything, a Bloomberg third party run will hurt the Dems, not Trump.

Yes, I do. The article cited polling results with hypothetical three-way matchups. Clinton-Bloomberg would hold a majority....

Clinton-Bloomberg may hold the majority, but only one of them can win so I'm not sure what you're talking about. They can't combine their votes.

From the article:

According to a new poll by Morning Consult, the number could go two different ways, depending on the Democratic winner.

If Bernie Sanders secures the nomination, he would upset Trump in the polls by one point, polling at 35 percent to Trumps 34 percent. Bloomberg would place third with 12 percent of the vote.

If Clinton secures the nomination, she would poll at 36 percent compared to Trump’s 37 percent, with Bloomberg trailing at 13 percent of the vote.

This says Trump loses to Bernie by one point or beats Clinton by one point. Of course, this is all from a poll by a New York CBS affiliate.

In countries that field more then two parties in an election, the various parties can form coalition Governments to create a majority Government after the election. Happens all the time in Canada, where we usually have 4 or 5 major parties running at any one time.

If Bloomberg ran, the most likely outcome would be a coalition Government between the Dems and Independents (Bloomberg) to create a majority Government. The idea here is to split the vote which erodes Trumps support. Then repackage into a new Gov.

I still think Corporate America pulls out all the stops for Trump. Bloomberg is just another fail-safe. Assassination is on the table. Trump has given major concessions to the military-industrial-complex with another Middle East invasion and continued NSA surveillance. So they may give him a pass, if he takes the whole enchilada.
