Any thoughts on the role of naked short in options trading. Any comments on how they are separated from the "bad" kind of naked shorts
The SEC allows MMs in options to naked short to hedge their exposure for options that they are writing. Any optionable stock on the Reg. SHO list can be naked shorted without limit. So the MMs in derivatives get to unfairly put all the risk on equity traders.

I think your analogy is a good one and the criticism of it ironic.
As long as people can argue in lofty terms, they're comfortable with doing the deed. When the description becomes too explicit,

Not only that, but when the position is on, they load up on puts which makes the MM short naked legally which drive s the price even lower. Money becomes more expensive, stocks crater and blow right thru what any trader would think of as support.
Amazingly, my dog won't crap where she eats. But these guys foul the pond on a daily basis.
I'm thinking of a new thread, where we just post fraud that happens. I get about three emails on a slow day. It's remarkable, and when you see the "punishment", you 'll be disgusted.

The fact that I don't think naked shorting is equivalent to actual rape makes me a pussy? The more you talk, the more you lose credibility.
