Um... maybe I'm not familiar with NZ's rates market... but this isn't how carry trades are usually done? NDDRI Curncy gives you the 9-deposit rate for NZD (other tenors are obvious available too)

most likely rules are same as "trading" aussie's CD's. last time i checked-you have to be resident and to buy-you have to visit bank's branch with proper ID :p

if it's easy as buy and sell stocks-i would put all my money into those cd's long time ago..along with 10's of millions of other savers from US and rest of low paying interest countries...wait a minute..some folks done that not so long ago..in iceland :p
it's didn't end well..
