Bloomberg Alternatives

Quote from rhymeswithorang:

For example, Reuters broke the silver ETF story first this week. You could have bought all the silver you wanted. BBG broke the lead paint story a couple of weeks ago, you could have sold all the Sherwin Williams you wanted. MktNews runs ECB source stories that move markets regularly. The machine will pay for itself.

EFT?
BBG?

Sorry, ETF. The SEC was considering an Exchange Traded Fund for silver, it was approved, silver spiked.

OK. Nice to know. :p

This is Bridgestation with reuters news for $135 a month.

I just got Equis QuoteCenter for home use.. Must say, I like it. I'm familiar with the Reuters format here at work, so my learning curve was not too bad. As far as the news goes, I got the realtime news feed coming in, as well as quotes

(I signed up for the Forex package just to "kick the tires" and see if I should progress and outlay more cash for the Commodies and Equities pieces)

Time will tell, but so far, I kinda like it. It's nowhere near our BridgeStation or Dealing3000, Bloombergs here in the office, but I would say for home use, if you're making the cash, it can be a useful tool.

I'll try to post a reply here in the latter part of next week once I've had a chance to really delve into the Equis product and customize it.

ChiBondKing,
what is the real time news feed like. Equis QuoteCenter say you get REUTERS feed. Is this the same news package you get with 3000Xtra? I assume it doesn't compare and you only get part of the news. Thanks.

You guys think Reuters Bridgestation is better then Thompson One for a pro? Feedback appreciated.

Quote from TRADERguy:

I haven't seen the Bridgestation with Reuters news but it isn't very likely at all that it will compare with BB or a professional Reuters platform. Market News International is timely but has less stories (several hundred USDs per month). Need To Know News is an audio newswire that only functions during US hours ($150 per month). Most of the headlines broadcast are a headline that just came out on another newswire. However, for US economic releases, they have a Washington correspondent that broadcasts live when the news embargo ends. Both of the last 2 I mentioned have free trials. Call NTKN to set up a trial; don't download the player from the website. They have a new player that uses VoIP technology which clear and fast.

Cheers,

TRADERguy
