any movie about any subject can be made. will it be financed or distributed by a major studio? that is a very different story.
 
Brooks poked fun at everyone, no one, no race was spared. Same way Don Rickels worked, lmao, he could say anything to anybody and get away with it while making even the subject of the joke laugh, everyone knew it was all a joke.

You still can make movies like that, what has changed is that you can't actually do that kinda shit as often anymore and that is what makes an asshole like you to get triggered and angry.
there have been many more movies recently that have been more controversial but a dumb fuck like you probably has never heard of them. The reason, Mel brooks' movies are funny is because he pokes fun at ignorant assholes like you. he showcases the racism, bigotry and ignorance.

for recent examples, just check some the Sacha Baron Cohen's work. (Borat, Bruno, ...)

You can tell who is ignorant a f about how the entertainment industry works. Anyone who has ever worked with writers or scripts knows that timing is everything (not everything but close) and having your script in front of the right people at just the right time is ridiculously hard for new people. Lots of great properties and projects never get made.

And when people say get made... they are not denying anyone can get a couple of Canon C100s and some lights (or whatever you favorite consumer/pro type cam is...) they mean real marketing and distribution into theaters so the films can actually be seen.

The crack about the cameras is not to put down my friends who made surf films and traveled around the world to one independent theater at a time to show their films and scratch out a living while surfing. One of my best friends did that and he loved it while he was doing it.

Mel Brooks was not some new writer or nobody. If someone with his stature put a movie out like Blazing Saddles it would get made and distributed.
