Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't convict, so they resort to pulling a Martha Stewart.
You can lie to the cops all day long, but lie to the feds and it's off to the prison with you. Oh yes, by the time the US Supreme Court gets the case (Or, the writ they hand down meaning they'll hear it), Blago will have already served his time for lying to the federalies.

You, as the defendant, are never obligated to answer any questions asked of you by the police, or anyone else for that matter. It is called the 5th amendment. In this case by opening his pie hole he convicted himself by simply babbling on trying to make himself look innocent.
When the cops have nothing, they will try their best and can even lie to you to get you to open up. He did, and they nailed him on it.
Advise: bite down on your tongue so hard it bleeds and forces you to shut up. Seriously. Sometimes (most times) we are our own worst enemy. Stick a cork in it.
