On my street, three other U.S. military veterans (a Marine, Army, and Navy vet) calling Québec, Canada their home too although they've been here with their families longer than me. They have 2nd homes in the United States (Florida, Georgia, and Washington) while I have a 2nd home in Illinois.

How did you get Canadian citizenship?
I own a business (inherited it/mother side of the family) in France that only hires Canadian citizens that speak French. Also, I was an investor in a few start-up businesses in Canada.
After residing in Canada for 4 years...I applied and was approved.
- Business owners, property owners and investors can gain Canadian citizenship by investing in Canadian businesses, however must still prove the following requirements: The applicant should have a permanent resident status. The applicant should have physically spent 1,095 days (3 years) of the last five years in Canada.
Not applicable to me because my spouse (a West Point Alumi) was only a U.S/French citizen. Today, she's a Canada/France/United States citizen like me and our children (teenagers). The differences...she's born in the U.S., two of our kids born in France and the other born in Canada while I was born in France.
