I read somewhere that there were something like 20 rally participants and literally hundreds of media ?
I grew up in the South and returned a few years ago to the South. 28 years in total. Went to graduate school and worked in Chicago.
This is strictly anecdotal - but I have never seen or heard of a Klansman or a Klan rally and I have never seen a burnt cross or any of that silly nonsense. I’m sure there are racists here (as there would be anywhere) but I personally in my own mind do not see how a person could hold a job successfully or manage a business in the South whilst being racist. The population is 50 percent Black. You really have no choice but to be courteous and accommodating in the modern South. You’d fail or get your ass fired otherwise. I see strangers holding doors, saying ma’am and sir, and being courteous to each other.
Regional college football rivalries excluded because that is just a whole ‘nother matter.

At first I thought it was just a job for them. But I believe their years of hate have harmed them from the inside. They don't know what the hell they are talking about. They probably don't even interact with white americans but they really believe that most white people are racist haters like they are.

Yet the south is flooded with confederate flags,monuments, schools and streets named after confederate leaders who fought to keep blacks enslaved and most southerners consider them heros .Im sure you dont see any of that eithier.

Flags - nil. I’ve seen maybe one the past three years and that was on a deck boat under a pirate flag. Monuments - a few in very scattered locations; you’d have to drive quite a distance to find one. Schools and streets - very rare.
I’ve seen more highways, streets, public buildings, and schools named after MLK and civil rights leaders down South than I ever saw in the Chicago area.
