Bitcoin thread anyone?

Dude, seriously, give it up. It went parabolic in the last few days/weeks. Who cares it was a flat line in 2011??? Look up what parabolic means then look at the chart then be a man and acknowledge that you were wrong. End of story...

right

speechless, just hit $140...

wish there is a reliable way to short this without unrealistic counterparty risk, but then if i shorted it at $100 would got my *** handed to me.

holy cow...who on earth is buying this at $140?

After hitting 147 just in 2 hours it dropped back to 124, which was apparently a buying opportunity. Up to 141 and back to 130 again. As long as it is this volatile, it can not function as a currency...

The exchanges can't even handle the volume...

SO there are 21 Million coins outstanding or issued? I am trying to compare this to a stock. What is the freely trade-able float and how many coins are authorized? I think I read it is a fixed number of coins FOREVER, right?

There are currently 11 million mined, and by 2100 something there will be 21 million, I think I will die before that. :)

Now 1 coin can be divided down to 8 digits, that is 10 000 000 pieces. So the the number of units currently available is 11 followed by 14 zeros...

Some of that 11 million coins have been lost, so it is hard to say how many could be traded, theoretically, all of them....

OK, lets say the 11 million coins are mined and none are lost....@ $140 per coin, that is $1.5 Trillion USD worth out there! And this was started in 2010?? WOW!

recheck your numbers

1.5 billion is still very impressive for essentially a few bits of data not backed by government, military, gold, or anything...

Be that as it may, there is nothing parabolic about its historical returns up till this very moment.

Look what I have found.... :)
