Bitcoin thread anyone?

Quote from Pekelo:

New malware steals bitcoins

Imagine that.

"Someone" knew where to look.

Baffling to me that anyone could possibly take this seriously when the people responsible for it remain in hiding.

hearing hft firms using computers over the weekends to mine. making more than trading C.

check out business weak for the details.

Lol @ the WoW currency mention earlier on.

I think bitcoin currency is a risk and all of the drawbacks that have been mentioned (largely the 30K bookings and large illiquidity) are valid, but if you're not risk-averse then it may be a great investment... as Mr. Buffet says, buy when there's blood in the streets (or when everybody else says not to).

I think the concept is ludicrous but there are so many shmucks in the world that this, like penny stocks that go up 10,000% and back to zero, can flourish.

You may wake up to an FBI seizure on morning and then you can wipe your butt with the bitcoins.

computers mining bitcoins, anyone that doesnt see this as absurd is either a promoter or a dickhead.

Got some spare time this weekend and ordered a bitcoin miner for $2200, going to drop it off at my buddy's warehouse when it gets here and just remote into it as that monster will sound like a hurricane and generate so much heat.

Should be about 50 coins/month at least for the first month i think. Not going to quit my day job :D but I just like the whole p2p currency concept. I tried to mine on my imac and it gave me 33mhash/sec lol, this dedicated mining rig will be at least 1400mhash/sec. Should be interesting experiment.....

Thanks but doubtful can make any money, it's way too late in the game trying to make profit off this. I just find mining relaxing, seeing bitcoin getting generated, will be keeping all the btc i mine. I am also a miner in eve online if anyone play that :)

Omg fuck MtGox bullshit. This little scandalous nonsense is getting a little bit ridiculous. I mean I am DCA'ing, so it isn't like I am going to withdraw, but I pretty much have 0 confidence in this garbage anymore.

Not only that, but the MtGox price is tied into Silk Road and that has just evaporated everything I have.

Of course I got suckered into this. Only makes sense.

This definitely looks like a big mess now. Basically someone hacked mtgox and dumped every single account login/password into a spreadsheet and posted it online. The hacker then went into the accounts with tons of bitcoins and sold all of them. Mtgox is the largest (by far) exchange/market of bitcoins. I am not sure it can ever recover from that.

ps: think i will cancel my order for the mining rig now lol
