That is true and most people don't realize that. For example the technology of blockchain/bitcoin could be used for internet voting as not going to the voting booth anymore. But that doesn't mean bitcoin itself is viable in the long run...
It is almost at $500 right now, I mean I stop editing, we went through it...
I don't think there can be a secure and robust blockchain without a valuable decentralized cryptocurrency reward for participating. Who is going to trust or participate in a centralized blockchain owned by a corp or bank like JP morgan? You can't have a truly trustworthy blockchain unless it is broadly decentralized. Bitcoin has all the right ingredients for a successful blockchain already. I think the news pieces coming out this year about the blockchain being more important than bitcoin are misleading. You can't successfully have one without the other.
Always be very skeptical of what you read and hear in the news. Big hitters like JPM don't like the idea of being bypassed by technology and will spread FUD through the MSM to undermine it.
