Those are not genuine brokers: they're counterparty market-makers.

I'm also not classifying them all as "shady" (though I think perhaps you imagined that I was?).
I'm simply making the factual point that they're not "brokers". They're counterparty market-makers presenting themselves as brokers. Many of their customers (like Radex, who habitually posts in such threads and has indeed posted on the previous page of this one) are naive enough not to understand exactly what a genuine broker is, not to understand that a counterparty market-maker isn't a genuine broker, and to imagine that the counterparty holding the other side of their bet (if they're aware at all of the difference between a "trade" and a "bet") is "their broker". They're mistaken, of course, when they think that.
