History is littered with prognostications of what will and will not happen - especially by the uninformed.
 
They can't handle the vols, simple as that.

I once worked in a high-rise on Dearborn Ave that was basically 37 floors of people *looking* for volatility. The most basic expression of risk is directly proportional to price volatility and that is where the money is made.

We all assume risk to the level we are comfortable with. With a very long eye here it does not look insane.
