Bitcoin <$175 this morning. All you bitcoin believers still comfy about it?

stocks like citi and other TBTF banks are more fantasy than btc IMO yet how many billions of fun coupons are those worth?

The fact a real asset like oil or silver can have huge swings means that bitcoin or anything else can too.

One can send $82MM today for 4 cents of a fee through bitcoin. That is worth something among many other properties and I am confident it will continue to be worth more in the next 10+ years taking market share from all the fee whores of today. visa, mc, banks, western union ect. My money is where my mouth is, talk is cheap.

Again, where are you short from?

Are you asking me? Where did you get the notion I'm short?.... not fool enough to risk on such a market. (There are plenty of other places to invest where you can lose your money slower.)

Somewhere this year an Bitcoin ETF is expected to be launched. Then you can trade on the NASDAQ (ticker: COIN).
My guess is, that with a volatility like this many (day)traders will love this new trading class. (and skeptics like yourself can "safely" go Short).

Well, the SEC has already thrown the application back like 2-3 times, or they could just flatly deny it, so the launch isn't a given...

I have read the process of buying bitcoin....there's too much involved...plus who knows how secure your digital wallet is since every day there is a story of someone getting their bitcoins hacked. When or if they bring the bitcoin etf to market I will gladly trade it especially on days when its 10-20% but right now who knows when the etf is expected ..im sure this drop will keep it even further away from the exchanges and slow the process of ever seeing the etf come to wallstreet ....Wednesday morning I saw it trading under $180...today above $200. Not a bad short term return if you were able to trade it using the etf. I have a couple of friends who own bitcoin ..told them to hold off until it dropped significantly but they went ahead and bought above $600.

Coinsetter just announced they are doing margin and shorting for you elephants out there.

I've never had a problem with Bitfinex withdrawing or otherwise. Of course it could go down like Gox or the myriad of other failed exchanges, so I don't put my life savings in it and make withdrawals every now and then. I've pulled more money out of crypto than I've put into it.

bitcoin is a big scam, the author was himself some kind of religious guru or some other lunatics

why would anyone be fool enough to put such faith in something so obviously dodgy !!!

and then you have all the "amateur trader" fools and Chinese pouring money into it, that alone should be a signal that you should not get involved.

Mister "butterfly", if you lived 120 years ago, you probably represented the club of horse breeder/traders, vituperative towards those dangerous and noisy Cars used by lunatics....

Distributed-Ledger-technology is invented, might even get a Nobel-prize once, and you will use it sometime in future yourself (probably without noticing it).

do you even understand what is money and how it works ?

what you take for huge gains in your silly scam cryptocurrency is actually inflation, never thought of that ?

if you read the white paper on what Bitcoin is based on, you realize very quickly it's a silly scam by a Japanese lunatic having one of his psychotic episode. The whole theory is based on "fantasy" assumptions, something someone could use to build some kind of manga style Japanese game for the Japanese market.
