I think Obama might have had a Kenyan passport because of his father roots. That makes him a dual-citizen, which is not illegal in US. I am speculating since there appears to be no way that he could have traveled to Pakistan without a passport.


and as was mentioned above, allegedly, he never applied for a US passport in his 20s.
 
OK, here is what the long form birth certificate looks like for someone born in 1961. Furthermore, the Hawaii Department of Heath affirmed that no paper birth certificate records were destroyed when the department moved to electronic record-keeping in 2001. So, Obama's long form birth certificate can be retreived if it is available.
