Billionaire launches get-out-the-vote effort against Bush

Quote from Maverick74:

Oh man, I need to find some aspirin. Look, there is no gain. Period. He has a controlling interest in his fund just like LTCM and just like every other offshore hedge fund. As long as that money stays in the fund it is not subject to taxation because it is not personal income. Why the f*ck do you think there are like 10k offshore hedge funds? For the warm climate? LOL. Personal income is what he decides to pay himself out of the fund. I'm sure he pays himself a very modest salary.

Now you are getting it. Good boy. He is not evading taxes.

Is it me or is time to ask this socialist fool to leave our country? I mean here is a guy that has completely exploited our economic infrastructure for profit then condemns the structure itself. He has made his fortune in this country yet he diverts all his profits to offshore tax shelters to avoid paying taxes. He profits from our capitalism structure then criticizes our capitalistic lifestyle. I think it's time that George Soros takes his open society and himself back to europe. Let's see how safe he feels over there.

Are you kidding me? That is not the same thing. The point Dgabriel was trying to make was that I insinuated that he was illegally evading taxes. Do not put words in my mouth. Everyone in this country tries to find ways to avoid taxes. Not everyone in this country is fortunate to have an offshore entity set up to compound their wealth tax free. Then support a candidates for President who want to take away our wealth through taxation. I stand by the above statements you quoted me on. There is nothing incorrect about any of them. That is exactly what he does. I never said George Soros is illegally avoiding taxes and I still am waiting for that to be shown to me. But I will take that Cigar to celebrate another republican taking away power from the liberals in California. Go Arnold.

No Cutten, but he can finance a future gov't that will do those things. Hello. If he gets what he wants in gov't those are the exact things that he will do. In fact it will be his first objective to extort your wealth via the IRS. Don't you get it? Look, saying the gov't is corrupt is not a revelation here OK. The bottom line is do you want a corrupt Gov't that is elected by the majority or of that by a wealthy outsider who has questionable motives. Corruption is corruption, it's everywhere. But I prefer the will of the American people to prevail and not the will of an eccentric billionaire. Thank you.

dude, soros is saying NOTHING about tax structures here.

he thinks GWB is a wacko who is threatening world peace and stability. many of us who desire low taxes also feel this way.

end of story.

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

If Soros thinks socialism is so great, why doesn't he go live in a socialist paradise? Why wouyld he choose to live somewhere as awful as he seems to think this country is? Maybe he could take Alec Baldwin with him when he leaves, since Baldwin never followed through on his promise to leave if Bush was elected.

If this was the Clinton administration, I guarantee you that Soros would be neck deep in an IRS investigation by now if he had funded an anti-Clinton/Gore group.

WTF does Soros have to do with Socialism??? Nobody seems to be able to answer my question, and this is like the 3rd time I'm posting it in this thread.

He hates Bush! Many of us do!

Soros doesn't want the world to implode in the next 5 years, so he's setting up $75million to try and prevent that from happening.

End of story.

...Don't you find it odd that a guy who has made his fortunes using our markets...

OK, so why don't we all listen to brother Maverick and ban foreigners from using "our" markets and see where that gets this fine country.
