I have to agree. If Soros can throw away that kind of money to undermine Bush, what is the point of limiting anyone's right to contribute or spend money?

The Democrats have a history of abusing the election finance laws, even as they clamor for "reforms", which they then turn around and circumvent. But as with many things, the Republicans have only themselves to blame. They could have mounted aggressive prosecutions and reopened cases that had been whitewashed by the Reno Justice Department. Instead, they looked the other way. Now they will suffer the consequences.

I also have a problem with your abundant use of the word "our" in your post, as if the "our" is something that only belongs to bush-loving republicans. "Our" military didn't protect NYC from jack shit on 9/11, but "our" military did seem to work pretty goddamn well during the clinton era. "Our" military is not the tool of the neo-con oil industry.

Face it, dude, Bush/Asscroft/Cheney/Rumsfelon have managed to turn many of the good things about the US to complete shit.

Why is it a socialist act to "get out the vote" in a "democratic" society? Even with Soros' donations don't the democrats still lag far behind the republicans in campaign financing? Have we all lost our minds?

I could give a shit about democrat/republican... because they are relatively similiar when placed on the political spectrum. The decisions they make don't have my best interest in mind and never will, so go on and bicker about who's what... c'cause it don't make a hill a beans difference.

Excuse me, but I believe George Soros pays very very little in taxes. Most of his funds are offshore. He owes most of his vast fortune to the fact that he has been able to compound his wealth without the burden of taxes. As far as having an opinion. Yeah, we all have opinions, it's just when you have 5 billion dollars, suddenly your opinion is worth a lot more then mine. That is not a democracy my friend. Also, I like how George Soros doesn't even state who he wants to put into power. He just wants to get Bush out. Isn't that what we would call a vendetta? At least the state of California got 1.6 million people to sign a petition to get Gray Davis out of office. And now all it takes is one single guy with a lot of money to get Bush out of office? False! There were seven bidders for that Haliburton contract. This information was provided at a sworn testimony by Rumsfield. Stop it with this Haliburton sh*t OK. It's getting really old. And no, the Quantum Fund is not taxed as an offshore entity. In fact, it was the same reason why LTCM had a massive offshore operation in the Cayman Islands. George Soros has a satellite office in NY but it is not a US company nor a US fund and is not subject to SEC reporting requirements.

And look, nobody is making money on HAL stock. It is way off its high of 65 or so 4 years ago and most of the people who own the stock got killed. All that money does that goes to HAL for those contracts creates jobs. It doesn't go into the CEO's pocket you freaking moron. And good old Dick Cheney who happens to receive deferred compensation from HAL, is getting killed on the dive that stock took.
