Mandatory sentencing is BS.
Next thing you know some just turned 18yo gets 25 yrs and lifetime sex offender status for doing his then 17 yo girlfriend.

The only thing that hasn't already happened is the 25 year thing.
People get outraged over gross miscarriages of too lenient punishment then get fucking stupid trying to correct for it legislating minimums.
It would be better to legislate censure or removal of a judge or judges in question.
