Not once mentioned in that article, but if such measures were in fact put in place, one has to wonder what effect it would have on the philanthropic efforts of so many individuals that would be hit hard by this. They might just get pissed off and say f it.
Say what you want about their politics or whatever, but a lot of good work gets done due to their generosity.

Yep. Re-distribution of wealth. The re-distribution of the wealthy folks' taxes to the gubmnet, who will then spend it on stuff they do not have to pay for.
Think about it...
If you suddenly got $1 billion at no cost to you, what would you do with it? Like most humans, you'd spend it on what you want. But of course it is politics...
Mreh, I was about to rant on this about something relative, but am feeling tired. And I have ranted enough, and pissed off enough forum members.
And I hate the fact that I liked this album, because I generally do not like Madonna.
But this album has so much positive energy. I recall listening to it a lot. We need more positive energy!

2. He plans to give it all away to charities. So whether he gives it away or the government takes it, same diff to him.
3. We're not in his same situation and don't plan to give everything away.
Bottom Line... F* Bill Gates and his (1) Lefty generosity with other peoples money and (2) support for further government theft of our property!

It's probably worth reading up a bit on Gates. I really want to not like him, Microsoft and all, but the guy has literally been responsible for virtually eliminating a number of diseases...plus he basically managed to convince/cajole/shame a significant number of the richest people in the world to give away more than half their wealth, including some famously tight fisted guys like Buffet who had publicly stated previously that he wouldn't. If you want him to live in sackcloth and ashes then nothing he does is probably going to cut it, but he's significantly changed the lives of millions for the better (probably to the point of almost redeeming himself for Microsoft
)I like Mr Gates, I don't wish anybody to be ruined by outside vectors. I repeat: they simply have enough critical mass to draw the blanket of attention to themselves even at such ridiculous cost to themselves. It's like Dalio, and his white paper on populism and economic cycles that he keeps publishing every decade or so. Elon is openly pricky with his histrionics, Buffett is openly contradicting himself and enjoying the process and the results.. These guys are celebs now. Look what happened to Greenspan or Stephen Hawkins, something happens to us, humans, when we become celebrities.

I like him precisely because of Microsoft. The amount of software that has been developed in that platform and in turn the amount of engineering and science that's been possible because of it is difficult to quantify.
