The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation spends heavily on combating emerging diseases, such as Ebola and its variants. It is at least a small miracle that Ebola has not hit the developed world harder than it did. It is a major miracle that Ebola was contained the way it has been after several large cities in Africa saw outbreaks. Emerging diseases contained in third world countries lessens the chance we have to deal with it directly, saving lives and perhaps our economy. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is helping keep us safe. Further, many libraries receive funding for computers and internet connectivity from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. in addition, they provide grants and invest in companies involved in emerging technologies, increasing innovation and our potential quality of life. Even more, Microsoft provides substantial, high quality resources to those wanting to learn how to code. While some or even many of the benefits the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation provides may seem self-serving, the fact is everyone benefits, either directly or indirectly. In other words, it could be called a “Win-win”. In a world that often disproportionately rewards those who are best at exploiting others, the more win-wins we can get, the better.
While Bill hasn’t been nice to his competitors and could have been more consumer friendly with certain Microsoft products and services, his efforts helped usher in computers for consumers and small business, possibly saving us from a dystopian, at least as far as computers were concerned, IBM dominated world.
All hail Bill!
But to stop Ebola you literally just need to wash your hands won't work with Covid, but Ebola will only spread where the sanitation is very very 3rd world, so it's not a worry to the West at all.
