Bill Gates' Tesla short

Gates was short when TSLA was going to the moon. He just happened to have the cash to cover his bad calls and the luck to watch the stock drop while still short.

If I'm learning anything about trading and investing is that it's all based on timing.

While that might be true, I don't think Gates trades independently using Robin Hood. He's employing some of the brightest minds in the industry, who probably are more privy to inside information (legal or not is beside the point). They don't need to time the market.

First, Elon doesn't give a shit about the planet. Maybe Mars, but not Earth. Second, if Tesla was overvalued (and oh boy it was) shorting it makes sense. You are on elitetrader, Sir, not on planersaver.com :)

The mars gimmick is just that, a gimmick. Outside of basic space missions, it's not going to be anything similar to earth. Antarctica is a paradise compared to mars and it's uninhabited by humans.

shut up.

it’s because Elon wants free speech for everyone and bill gates wants to put 5G in everyone’s veins with the phony vaccine.

Don't forget that Elon is saving the planet. Mining loads of lithium, replacing batteries every 6-7 years and building performance cars for the vain, he should be nominated for sainthood.

Antarctica does not have a nuclear fusion ice-cap melting thing like Mars does. If we did, we would boil because that is where all our remaining freshwater is. On Mars, it makes sense though.

You know Elon is a fan of this idea...

riveting...

Everyone knows you save the planet on a 1000hp 2 ton sedan and necessary lithium commuting from A to B

Correct, If one ever interacted with BillG, you know that he reads everything, often multiple times. So he probably just noted what the portfolio position was, had nothing to do with initiating it, and was amused. He is also extremely competitive. So it would not surprise me, if he would reply with an acknowledging smile. Just another Billionaire to Billionaire "burn". Why not? You should have seen him interact with Jobs!

Musk is making a product which doesnt use gasoline but what about all the rubber and plastic inside the car?? What about the electricity to run it?

People here cant be that dumb.
And that differs from VW, Kia, BYD, Mercedes, etc EV's how?
It doesn't as far as I can tell.
Does that mean TSLA trades at a PE of Ford?
No opinion on that one.
We shall see.

How come Musk never hitched a ride up into space while both Bezos and Branson went up? Don't tell me he's scared like a little boy! :sneaky:

Doesn't matter if someone else presses the button, he calls the shots. Shorting or going long... both will come about at some point within a 10 year period and there is those who have the means to wait and those who don't. As for Gates, it's not if he shorted TSLA (we know he did) but when. The most efficient trader is the one who times the market closest. Heart attack is a possible byproduct of high efficiency.
