The senate is exactly the reason why approval matters. Senators will turn on their own mother if they felt it would give them any edge in the next election. However, The infrastructure bill is not dead because it came out of the senate, unless it has a blue slip problem I’m not aware of - the house can simply pass it on majority vote and send it to Biden.

Progressive dreams of tweaking the infrastructure bill and marrying it to a larger package are dead. That’s just something they have to accept.

A smaller stand alone reconciliation married with debt ceiling and fiscal year funding is possible but that depends on if Biden can right the ship. The key here is if Biden can break out of low approval soon and I mean like a month to six weeks before this crisscross pattern get baked in and sets like jell-o.

If Democrats were smart, and more importantly actally gave a damn about infrastructure they would give up the hope of blending it with some idiotic radical left programs. They don't actually give a damn about infrastructure, neither do Republicans to be honest, so I expect it to die like every other program that would actually benefit the American people. However, both parties love to talk and talk and talk some more about infrastructure on their never ending campaign season, so we can expect to hear just how very important it is while nothing of substance gets accomplished. Business as usual for our criminally corrupt government.

Dont think democrats don’t have a faction willing to run off of a cliff with a good bill. However, the advantage democrats have is Nancy Pelosi. She is, ironically, the last “statesman” in Congress in that she is actually able to move legislation by shear force and will.
