House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, D-N.J., announced Wednesday that his panel will hold a hearing regarding the formula shortage, saying in a statement that the national shortages "are increasingly alarming and demand Congress' immediate attention."
The hearing is slated for two weeks from now on May 25.
By the time Congress wraps up its hearing and grandstanding for the public, there will be formula on the shelves and this will be over but Congress will still MILK it for votes and sympathy....Although FDA action was needed since 2 babies died, they should have immediately had a public notice on the fact that the plant being closed could lead to shortages 2-3 months later when all inventory was sold off.
