I was about to go nuts on this and condemn the guy, but then I saw these:
If he was backtracking, its appalling. If he genuinely didn't realize what was being asked, it only makes him uninformed/stupid
Here is my two cents why this guy is full of shit. This is not directed at you, just using your post to copy what he did. He is both ignorant and stupid because he knows what he said and got caught.
He said:
“I misunderstood a line of questioning that ended up being about interracial marriage,” Braun said. “Let me be clear on that issue — there is no question the Constitution prohibits discrimination of any kind based on race, that is not something that is even up for debate, and I condemn racism in any form, at all levels and by any states, entities, or individuals.”
Then he said he condemns any judicial activism and it should be left up to the States to decide on courts should not decide an issue for the entire U.S.
Well this fucktard slept in his classes. For many years states had laws that allowed schools to be segregated, marriages to be forbidden, facilities to refuse service etc... If it were so clear that the Consitution forbids something well then we should have never had those laws and it should never have risen to the level of the SC but it HAD to because states act like their own kingdoms and pass laws that cross state lines and affect federal rights.
It is not activism to address an issue of a state law because often a state is either doing what other states are doing or setting precedent for what other states may want to do. Was it activism to tell Virginia they cannot pass a law outlawing a marriage? If you think this was a clear issue to strike down think again... most of the south had similar laws or effects.
Now Roe v. Wade raises a unique set of issues but it is quite convenient for an idiot like Braun who despite Harvard is kind of stupid to proclaim what HE defines as ACTIVISM only becuase it does not fit his political ideologoy but champions when the court upholds a policy that fits directly with it.
There are no God given rights in the U.S. or in the Consittution and the constant misunderstanding of the document is why we have hearings for Barrett and Jackson with idiots asking dumbass questions.
