He was just channeling Abbot and Costello. Hell, he is old enough to remember it, he prolly' saw them live. He just had a terrible delivery.
He's used Abbot & Costello comedy lines before in his speeches and messed it up big time. Their generation loved those guys.
In the mid '70s when I was a little kid, my parents would watch Abbott & Costello old re-runs and laugh hysterically. It was an iconic TV show and those movies in my parents' life. Just as shocking, the re-runs were being run in two different countries...the United States and France...maybe other countries too.
It was a show they watched on their new black & white TV back in their teenage days but thought in error that my siblings and I would get a kick out of it too...watching those old re-runs with my parents.
In contrast, I had a different take on those two guys when I saw their Dracula Rises comedy horror movie...it scared the hell out of me and my siblings. I use to have dreams that Dracula's hand was crawling up our stairs to our bedrooms.
The hand would then pause at the top of the stairs and then run very fast into my room to hide underneath my bed...waiting for me to fall asleep. Yet, I was already asleep and dreaming but didn't know it.
I saw a hand.

Funny how we have trauma on different hands, but what was it with the the many different scary hands available to give us this trauma. WTF was with the 1970s and hands?
