This is the most untrue statement ever. Every job in this country now requires a fucking college degree, and a personality profile that if you fail online, you won't even get a phone call for the first interview, much less the second, third and fourth interview.

This country's hiring process is now a JOKE. There was a time when you would sit down face-to-face with a a potential employer. Nowadays you are pre-screened by a computer. And most people fail the hiring algos and their personality tests. Why do you think there are sooooooo many businesses with help-wanted signs up? Because the computer algo they have are still in pre-pandemic scanning mode.

And the corporate HR departments are too fucking stupid to figure this out, because they are fat and happy with their huge salaries and do not give one jot, not one tittle, about the lay person.

How many shrimp boats have you made a season on, or even a full trip? Unloaded any boxcars of drilling mud components lately? The poultry plants woul probably NOT hire a college grauate. Fries with that? I wasn't talking about "good" jobs. I was talking about JUST jobs. I never met a roofer with a college degree. Before i retired, at least 3/4 of the ABs an Ordinaries that worked for me had no college degree, and I have had guys who never finished high school and a couple who were illiterate. When you are an AB, being able to steer a ship, bust rust, grease and paint, are a lot more important than English Lit or Calculus. Come to think of it, I didn't finish high school, either. I was making more money shrimping than our family lawyer made, and I only had about a 4 month window where I could afford to go to classes. I honestly can't imagine that more than half of all American workers who actually have to do actual work, real work, as in sweating and sometimes bleeding and bruising, have college degrees. To my knowledge, nobody in my family has ever graduated from a 4 year college and the only one I can think of who ever even started, was my father. Oh, and my son, but he didn't stick it out.

I think we are talking about two completely different types of job here. Welcome to Walmart!
