i did not say that india should not take the lesson. it has already been punished by the virus.
Yeah but the problem is you don't get to decide how much or how little your "punishment" will be from your mistakes. You don't get to say, ok enough people have gotten sick and died and that's it we cannot die anymore. No, when you make mistake, you need to learn the WHOLE lesson until it's over. You don't get to decide how much to learn and for how long, you don't get to stand up and say "ok we have learned enough lessons now and we don't learn anymore". This is why you are supposed to be careful in the first place and not make mistakes and not wait until you have made mistakes and then complain about the consequences and expect everybody to help you otherwise you want them to suffer too. India is not an isolated country that is completely cut off from the rest of the world. No it's a technologically advanced country that is well-connected to some of the top institutions and organizations in the world and is fully aware of the danger of this virus and how fast and how wide it can transmit among its populations. India has its own epidemiologists who are experts in this disease and have warned so. And yet India has still chosen to do these:
What India did is inexcusable and irresponsible, not just to its own people but to the world as well. Now you want the world to help you? Did you think of the world when you were allowing this?
last year, trump also held rally everywhere, to some extent, like what india did recently.
Yeah and NOT by the millions. And USA did not have festivals where MILLIONS and BILLIONS gathered without masks and no social distance. Even in the USA, all those who were ignorant of this disease did also pay the price too. Trump himself even paid the price by being infected by the disease. He even had the most severe form of the disease in which he needed to be ventilators. And the places where there was a higher number of gatherings suffered too and people are dying just the same as in India. But this is NOT the time to look at other "wrongdoers" and complain how come the other people's punishment is lighter?
but standing by and looking coldly at india people's suffering is another issue, especially the whole world is experiencing the same pain, the only difference is severity. this situation is similar to that when your neighboring house is on fire, should you help him to put out the fire or just standby?
People did NOT stand by and looking coldly at India. This is a very heartless and ungrateful thing to say. Countries around the world have sent supplies, ventilators, PPE's, equipments, funds, Canada has donated $10 million on top of equipment to India. The world did NOT stand by. Various vaccine manufacturers have provided vaccines
below cost to India. India's got vaccines now and is vaccinating people. WHY does it need to know how it's made? It's already making vaccines and refusing to export to other countries. India and some other countries are obviously using this as an excuse to force a technology transfer of something that people have worked on for years and have invested billions of dollars in and that is unscrupulous. This is war profiteering. This is not the time to get rich. This is the time to get better. These vaccines companies are not making money by providing vaccines to India here. They are actually losing money by doing so. Be grateful!!
I don't know why Biden would agree to lift the patent protection. What a wuss!!
