Three points here:
1. The AA vote is critically important to democrats
2. Diversity on a Democrat ticket is important
3. Regional diversity is also important
With all of that said, someone like Mitch Landreau could get the VP slot as well.
Abrams will be the Dems Sarah Pailin, no way she gets picked simply because she is Black and lost an election
She got more votes in GA in 2018 than Obama in 2012 or Hillary 2016,due to black voters.Blacks love her.She brings more black voters out than Obama, thats why she is #1 on The VP shortlist.
You dont pick a VP to deliver a state you can win the general election without.... WHo cares about GA??
It is 16 EC votes the candidate can get in PA or MI which have been traditionally Blue...
Bringing more Blacks in States you would already win is not smart. Dems need to win those magic three states and maintain all the other Blues and they win.

All the nation wide black groups that supported her,Oprah in GA campaigning for her,Dems picking her to respond nationally to Trumps state of the union,her name at the top of any VP conversation,Biden floating her as VP before he launched his campaign,consistent nationwide speaking engagements and TV appearances,Dem primary polls showed her having higher name recognition than most of the candidates etc
