Even if he was an immoral cynical fuck (which I don't think he is), I'm astonished at the lack of self-preservation foresight. I'm not convinced Trump wouldn't go scorched earth on this but he'd just as quickly could have 180'd once he saw the 24/7 news coverage hitting him on this.
