There's a HUGE difference here. Biden was pushed out by the party, he didn't have to quit. Everything changed after the debate. Regarding Trump, or most other Pub or Dem candidates, unless they were on their last legs, I doubt they'd quit. It's the brain that matters. How it functions. Say Trump had got hit, and paralyzed from the waste down or whatever, as long as he was competent enough to run, he'd run.
You can't tell me they didn't know before the debate that poor Joe was slipping fast. And he was insolent about not quitting right up until yesterday. Like I said, you're hypothetical is nowhere's near being applicable here.

In my opinion, the worst-case scenario for Trump regardless if Biden resigns or not...Harris begins campaigning as if she's the Democrat party Nominee while Biden begins campaigning for her in other states as the former President or sitting President and her chosen Vice President begins campaigning in other states...
