Biden apologizes for calling Clinton impeachment 'partisan lynching,' but hammers Trump

She did no such thing, Republicans jumped on it because concentration camps just like lynching, have historical connotations, and just like the left is outraged today, the right was outraged back then. The difference here is, no one's killing Trump, and we're still locking people up without due process for extended periods of time and political reasons.

First, why do you say they are not receiving due process? You don't have to go to court and see a judge in order to get due process.

Under the expedited removal process, immigrants who have been in the country illegally for less than two years and are apprehended within 100 miles of the border can be deported almost immediately without going through a court hearing - Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996.

Second, you say it is because of political reasons. Do you believe when the same thing was happening under Obama it was political as well? Or was it because it is a legal issue back then and political now?

Let's see now. Historicially concentration camp people were rounded up and brought against their will to a country or an area and put in camp.

But we have a situation where the government begs you not to come, and tries its damnest to keep you out. And if you are detained and have not committed a crime you are free to go at any time provided that you leave the country. In many instances they will even give you a plane ride home. Separated from you children? You are free to go join up with them and leave together. You are only staying because you want to and to try your luck with legal system.

Yup, concentration camp. OR NOT.

I'm not sure Here4money is trying to make the argument that the actual detainment is like a concentration camp. He is making the reference to how the right was upset with language used by the left calling the detainment a "concentration camp" and now the right is saying "don't get all worked up over the word lynching". And I agree with him. You either accept language that is inflammatory or you don't. Either one is right, but be consistent.

The funny thing about the whole lynching comment is that - if you choose to get upset by it, you really ought to make sure you haven't used the word in the exact same manner in a prior episode.

okay, as I have done before, I plead guilty to not following all posts in a thread sometimes, if not always.

That would be ideal, the speedy removal as written in the law, not these 60 day minimum holding bullshit detainment under new zero tolerance BS pushed by the prison lobbies.

I've never had a hobby beyond some minor gemstone collecting.

From "Hobby search", thought you might like it. Who could possibly be the customer for this.

I’m thinking astrophotography and ham radio as hobbies. Perhaps building my own custom refractor telescope, including making my own narrowband lenses would be a reasonable challenge. A setup of 7 telescopes @ 33 to 40” in diameter should do the trick. My mount would need to be epic relative to amateur standards as well. I would want top of the line black and white sensors, but with the high end running at $10 to $40k per pop, it will be a while. Yes, I know about Hubble and the upcoming James Webb telescope. As far as the ham radio is concerned, I could hop on the 6 meter band and talk politics to our Northern and Southern neighbors. Grin. Great people in both groups and have they have frequent competitions and hobby related parties.

I'm saying AOC's description isn't as off the mark by the definition of a concentration (not extermination) camp as Trump is in his use of lynching. I'm merely pointing out the partisan selective outrage

I hereby retract my acknowledgement of your point at Tsings suggestion based on the possibility that maybe I did not read it carefully enough.

AOC's comment is out to lunch for exactly the reasons I cited.

Idiot.

The actual difference is I don't recall anyone saying she couldn't use the phrase concentration camps, people just pointed of the abject stupidity of it as it relates to detaining illegals at the border, whereas the leftist PC mob is trying to eliminate the use of the word lynching from any dialogue that doesn't push their narrative. There is no debate or argument that it is the left who are pushing for the elimination of words and phrases from the language we use to communicate.

The missus is somewhat obsessed with photographing the moon, apparently this is about where you take the shot as the moon obviously is the same. She would have made an astronomer alright.

I built a few telescopes as a kid, a nice 24" Mylar vacuum reflector (impractical but when it worked..) and we had a damned good Victorian era Galilean. Currently I have an inexpensive Celestron Astromaster 130EQ, surprisingly good mirror, objective lenses are meh so upgraded with Barlows for herself and the mirror needed to be shifted down an extra 2cm (easy mod). Though we are rarely out in the country place since it arrived six months ago. I think the future for amateurs will be the new 2D meta-material "lenses" which can have even negative RI though when available..

Better throw in a political thing. ;)

The black hole of Trump's ego.
