Biden Administration Asks Supreme Court To Ignore Harvard Asian Discrimination Case

Prestigious Fairfax school ‘disproportionately deprived’ Asian Americans of a level playing field, according to ruling

A federal judge ruled Friday that a new admissions system for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, a prestigious magnet program in Fairfax, discriminates against Asian American applicants and must end.

U.S. District Judge Claude Hilton concluded that an effort to boost African American and Latino representation at TJ, as the school is known, constitutes an illegal act of “racial balancing.” He added that the school board altered the admissions process — eliminating a notoriously difficult test and a $100 application fee, choosing instead to evaluate students on “experience factors” such as socioeconomic background — in a rushed, sloppy and opaque manner.

Hilton wrote that “emails and text messages between Board members and high-ranking FCPS officials leave no material dispute that, at least in part, the purpose of the Board’s admissions overhaul was to change the racial makeup to TJ to the detriment of Asian-Americans.”

Biden Administration Asks Supreme Court To Ignore Harvard Discrimination Case

The Biden administration urged the Supreme Court to ignore a case alleging that Harvard discriminates against Asians in admissions.

The lawsuit accuses Harvard of holding Asians to a higher standard and racially balancing its classes and asks the Court to ban the use of race in college admissions. In a legal brief filed Wednesday night, the Justice Department said the plaintiffs have not given persuasive reasons to revisit landmark rulings that authorize affirmative action.

Though President Joe Biden prioritized female and minority appointments to senior posts, top Democrats panned the lack of Asian representation in his administration. Senators Tammy Duckworth (D., Ill.) and Mazie Hirono (D., Hawaii) threatened to tank some of Biden's picks over the lack of Asian nominees. Despite the dustup, the Justice Department's brief tethers Biden's personnel goals to affirmative action practices at elite schools like Harvard.

There's no doubt that Asians are discriminated against, IMO.

I really hope the Supreme Court doesn’t fuck this up. There’s a lot of bright kids out there who do not have the time or resources to complete a checklist for school admissions but are absolutely best qualified to go to Harvard.

The VA ruling suggest they will.At the very least VA set the blueprint for increasing diversity without having to mention race and all Harved and other schools would have to do is use wording similar to thiers.

I don't think this current court made this ruling for black and brown students but they are worried about to many Asian students replacing white students. The VA school was 70% Asian before the admission policy change. The thought of all the top schools being 70% Asian or more has to scare even this Supreme Court.

I don't understand the discrimination against Asians at all. WTF.

Don't you know the narrative on Asians? All Asians are smart (not really), all Asians are filthy rich (not really), all Asians deserve to be discriminated against because they are okay with it (yep, dumb Asians love to vote for Democrats). Most school administrators in top elite schools are (extreme liberals and Democrats). It took the dumb Asians all this time, decades to figure out that they are being discriminated against? I am Asian by the way but, not dumb enough to vote for extreme liberal Democrats who will discriminate against me. Now, extreme liberal judges who these dumb Asians probably, voted into power are denying all their claims for discrimination. Good luck chumps, you deserve the discrimination and more because you guys are just plain dumb.
