The Court held that a student admissions process that favors "underrepresented minority groups" does not violate the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause so long as it takes into account other factors evaluated on an individual basis for every applicant.

The issue at hand is ipatent wants black and hispanic numbers in ivy leagues to drop to near nothing and is blindly willing to sacrifice white numbers and legacy students.

Educated white parents don't want their kids to have to compete against Asian kids plus the legacy system.. Not losing that.

I went to a top 10 school, and remember seeing what happens when you elevate students based on skin color to be in the midst of a level of competition that is too much for them. They self segregate in the classroom and the dining halls, and perpetuate a culture of failure. A lot of the affirmative action admits at Ivy league schools could be outstanding students a level down at a state university somewhere.

Then you have the problem where potential employers just assume that blacks and hispanics are not real Ivy League material and were there only because of affirmative action, when some of them are just as gifted as the white and Asian students. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I'm all for using socioeconomic status as one of the criteria of admission, as long as it is color blind.
