According to this article, since inception and as part of being a respectable news organization, the NYT stood for acceptance and tolerance of different political perspectives for more than 100+ years. That changed in 2016. Now it is a cesspool of intolerant myopic leftist TDS drones. Ochs, the founder, might just have to came back to fix the place.

Please keep in mind though that The NYT covered up The Holocaust, so it has not always been the honest and open newspaper.
The minute editorial boards began endorsing candidates was the death knell of any so called slef proclaimed independent fact based media. It got worse in the 1990s with those elections.
Here is some more historical context... the NYT did not "cover up" the holocaust -- they relegated news of it to inside pages & short stories that were rarely read.

BTW.... the source is the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences at George Washington University. They were one of a group of universities that researched press coverage of the holocaust in detail over several decades.
