Hes Only doing this to focus on his space endeavors....trying to lay out that space race for the possibility of one day making space living a reality. But damn we are hundreds and hundreds of years away from that ever happening, yes I'm the one who thinks this is just another hyped up many many trillion dollar unicorn at the moment just because they can grab people's attention and dollars to think space living will be a reality sometime in the next decade. Not going to happen the way the game plan is set up in my opinion. But when you have hundreds of billions and rockets, people will think oh damn we will be living in space, so here take my money and sign me up.

Amazon was simply Bezos's paypal. Now he can go and devote his time to Rivian and Blue Origin and show that other chump how it's done.

station is 36,000km out geo stationary, thats a long trip pulling yourself up a carbon nanotube cable 4mm thick, even at 100km/h thats 3600hrs or 150days to the station, can't get off before.

Your maths is off by factor of 10. Its 15 days at 100km per hour.
And at 500kph it is only 3 days.

Sorry working out in my head 1/2 asleep, still a long time, but I guess compareable to a ocean going liner transporting stuff.

And it can be a lot faster than 500 kph since once you get high enough that the air resistance is negligible, you can speed up quite a bit.
