Best Way To Narrow Down Search In Stocks

When trying to pick a stock that may run 10%+ in the near term where would one even begin given the choice of 1000s of stocks ?

I am new to trading individual equities but have great experience in index futures/FX
the only fundamentals I really looked at were the important economic releases and the markets reaction to them.

With the choice of thousands of stocks how does one even begin to choose ?

Narrowing search down by:

Industry ?

Performance ?

Market cap ?

etc

Is there an advantage in scouring through SEC filings and reading through balance sheets ?

10% near term could be many stocks. Good luck and have fun with them.

I search for >1000% short term, long term, whatever term.

I want stocks that are gonna F'n change my life
I want F U kind of money.
Keep your 10%.

Seriously, I really think people have piss poor goals when dealing in the market.
Piss poor goals beget piss poor actions
which begets piss poor results.

There are internet based search programs that aren't terribly difficult to code. I used stock fetcher for a while. But after a while, I realized that if you keep your eye on a few dozen stocks that have the proper types of cycles or patterns that you like to play, then you'll always be able to find a few good trades.

With leverage its possible to grow an account picking 10%+ gainers.

1000% stock gains seems like a pipe dream to me.

If you have "great experience in index futures/FX", picking stocks should be easy, as entries no different, nor is money management rules. You see a pattern that has been profitable in index futures/FX and take it, do some back testing on right risk/targets. Check out top five stocks/ETFs on volume so spreads are tight, if spreads don't matter, trade less volume stocks.
