Best Thing for U.S. Economy: Raise Taxes

Quote from Renegen:

What Hydroblunt and Allen both bring is that businesses have options, they can close down shop and search areas of better profitability. In the global marketplace you're going to have politicians try to attract jobs any way possible. Hydroblunt also talks about small businesses keeping the town alive. You mean people never leave dying economies? They do, their duty is first themselves, then their family, then their friends, then their community then their country.

The internet, globalisation will make us more interdependent on our neighbors. That's how communities form, some animals are solitary while others travel in small bands essential for survival.

The problem is, are we ready for globalisation? Is our economic system mature enough? Billions of people live in poverty, that's billions of people willing to be exploited for pennies before we have a 'community'. Let's not even talk about national sovereignty, do we want it gone?

I wonder if our world would be better or worse off without corporations. Are they inhumane?

I'm thinking about the early days of civilization right now, why did people go from living in caves to forming towns, provinces and then countries? Then in the dark ages, why did individual castles form into countries with time? Was it beneficial? The logical next step is one unified world, and maybe the answer to this dilemma lies in our past.

One unified world? I don’t want that before there is a choice between living on earth or another planet. Globalization is a good thing, but there is a good and a bad version. I think one unified world can only exist under either dictatorship or a big world government. Things might start off nice with democracy, capitalism and a good constitution but how long can it last?

Very few democracies seems to be able to fight off socialism. The nature of government is to grow, and the nature of most people is to vote for a big government. Im sure every socialist in power would love to raise taxes more than they do, and take away more liberty than they do, but they know they can’t do it when more freedom and lower taxes exist other places.

LONG LIVE THE CAPITALISM!!!!!!

Redefeat communism vote anti-democrat.......
I do not want socialize health care...thank you.

No way im going to read the whole damn thread, as well as it might have started.

Dont want to rock anyones boat, but the entire concept of providing insurance , for profit, or allowing most health related products to be regulated or taxed to the degree they are, is actually, under the constitution, treasonous.

Dont think so?

Acronym saya...Dont want to rock anyones boat, but the entire concept of providing insurance , for profit, or allowing most health related products to be regulated or taxed to the degree they are, is actually, under the constitution, treasonous.

Acronym, that's a very interesting thought. I'm not sure i would go along with it, but it is damn interesting.. I'm quite sure, however, that Capitalism with out free competition is a total disaster. Witness our medical care system, i.e., Cartel, we have in the US.

I don't want that either but it's an idea worth entertaining. Look at the EU, one of the reasons they came together was because they wanted to be competitive internationally. The US is a very diverse country that's huge. Why has the US become a world super power in the 20th century? In part because of its size, resources and ability to excel in everything. The US was a terrific internal market.

Maybe somewhere you need outside competition, to keep those socialists at bay, maybe we've reached the critical mass for how large a 'nation' should be.

Why wouldnt she? Its a perfectly FAIR arrangement. She has no room to argue on the fairness aspect.

"...but as most things risks are usually comensurate with the rewards"

Are you trying to imply there are greator rewards with marriage?

You are mistaken my friend go read the wives and wealth thread.

Im getting all the benefits of marriages, without the huge risk of a financial blow out like the poor sucker who buys blindly into the marriage contract. Might as well take your own balls off and stick them in her purse :D

Quote from Capablanca:

It kind of begs the question though is the woman you are with willing to accept your current arrangement indefinitely?

You can always say that when the time comes you can always move on to another but there are always tradeoffs. Same thing in a marriage of course but as in most things the risks are usually commensurate with the rewards.

The federal income tax is also unconstitutional.

"for profit" ....... there's a very loose term...

I've consulted with a few of the highest performing mutual insurance companies, each were filled from top to bottom with very well-off people.

:)
