What is wrong with 3 month T Bills @4.85% held til maturity?

I buy them Commission FREE through my broker on Mondays at Treasury Auction.

PS: State TAX Exempt

You can use them for margin as well.

the dudes got 50k of safe money he doesn't want to risk. he does his risking trading. i have substantial money in cd's and money markets. that's my safe money that no matter what happens in the market it's there. i have a wifeand kids so it's my duty to be able to support them no matter what happens in the market. people who risk all there money in the market won't be trading very long

Hey guys,

I am starting to accumulate a little extra cash thats just sitting in my checking account doing nothing for me and was wondering what would be the best thing for me to do with these reserves (approx 50K that I'm willing to invest)?

I want something thats fairly liquid, short term (3mos-9mos type thing) and safe (like a CD or something).

I am really a novice when it comes to investing and dont know too much and would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Real Estate for you: 50K is a nice Down payment on an income producing property. A rental house or a duplex.

Steve's bio says he lives in N.Y.C.

You'll have a better chance winning the lottery than finding a cash flow positive property anywhere near N.Y.C.

Yeah, not liquid enough for what I am looking for.
