Miami is VERY tempting, Cubes. I've been looking forward to the chance to practise my Spanish. And the pull of the babes (is it a myth?) is very strong, too. The only thing that puts me off is the humidity (which I hate!) and the crime. (Although, I feel pretty secure. 16.5" guns, which isn't huge, but from the would-be thug's perspective, there's easier victims out there. Who does most of the crime, anyway? Is it the Cubans? I easily pass for a Hispanic, so would that make me any less of a target?)

All I want is to live somewhere warm, with plenty of activities (outdoor/indoor), be able to buy a decent home with some property size, be able to afford food/gas/clothes, window shop at high end retailers, be able to have a car and not worry about driving in the snow and ice, getting up 1 hour earlier to scrape the darn ice off my car windows because the defroster doesn't clear 1" thick ice off glass, have kids grow up around friendly people, go to great schools, live in a suburban area, close enough to a major city, low taxes, no $8.00 verrazano bridge tolls, nice, clean movie theaters, and have plenty of cultural activities going on, no backward, slow, hillbillies to deal with, low crime rate, low car insurance, plenty of healthcare facilities available,.... I could go on but its pointless imo
Hosts major league sports and MLB spring training destination. Good shopping in Scottsdale. Quote from achilles28:
I haven't traveled much.
But Phoenix is great. I lived in Scottsdale for 6 months - beautiful.
Great weather. No rain (sunny 24/7). REAL hot in the summer (45+). But its a dry heat.
Fantastic women (Phoenix is the plastic surgery capital of the world). Two big universities (great nightlife). Geography is spectacular (neat topography). Close to the border (escape routeHosts major league sports and MLB spring training destination. Good shopping in Scottsdale.
Minus. Home prices are insane right now (sucks). South of Phoenix proper its a bit ghetto. But hey.
LA is nice too but the weather is a bit cold for my taste. Bit overpopulated and nasty inhabitants.
Scottsdale is a *very* beautiful city. Well maintained/immaculate. Very upscale/tropical feel. If you haven't been, you may want to check it out.
