Boston is a great place to be a student, not so great place to live. Expensive, crowded and a bit closed to outsiders. Actually reminds me more of chicago than a smaller version of NYC.
Minneapolis is a great place if you can stand the winters. Great women, and lots of outdoor activities. Kind of a san Diego with a winter. Wisconsin is similar. Midwesterners are a bit odd if you're an outsider, but basically good people.
Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia is awesome, but a bit rural for some. Carolinas offer a lot, nice lifestyle and scenic variety. Parts of Georgia, away from Atlanta, are similar. Atlanta is too crowded. You might as well live in LA.
I love Santa Barbara but California is not very friendly tax-wise.
