Best Guru to follow for value

Quote from HurricaneUS:

you are aware that I was being sarcastic don't you ?

However, I will say that I ream Nodoji in jest because she's a good sport...

No doubts one would come closer to successful trading by reading NoDoji's posts than by subscribing to some other guru services.

Any evidence of personal trading success beyond Internet claims? Why not find someone who truly is successful at trading, proven in the industry, rather than "they want to teach" and other foms of subtle hustle? Here's a piece I wrote a long long time ago--- take it for what it's worth----

Gurus have always found fertile ground in the financial markets. The early 20th century brought us esoteria like Gann and his geometric lines combined with astrology. It also supposedly brought common sense gurus like Livermore with his simple rules and pivot points. Later on in the century, even more bizarre market seers arose, and Joe Granville comes to mind. One of my earliest memories of the market is reading about Granville promoting his "Books of Granville" dressed as the Biblical Moses. In fact, my first hands on exposure to the market was after I met a financial astrologer while fishing back in 1990. He claimed to have called the crash of 1987 and profited wildly by buying way out of the money OEX puts with his college fund. He became obsessed with repeating this feat and astrology in general. I remember his purchase of J. Paul Getty's astrologer Evangeline Adams library containing all types of esoteric tomes. Needless to say, to the best of my knowledge, this story does not have a good ending.
Recently, I have noticed a proliferation of gurus trolling the internet for memberships in various chat room type websites or seminars. They are generally traders of stock index products like the mini SP500, the mini Dow contract and the Russell 2000 mini product. They all have some type of indicator, method, or system that will enable their subscribers to easily extract profits by just following along. Some claim to use logic, others write in such an obscure manner that just about anything can be read into their words. I have divided the Neo Gurus into three main types:
1. The plain talking regular Joe: This type claims to have been just like you, prior to finding the holy grail, which due to his altruistic nature will share with you for a small fee or in some cases your adoration or friendship.
2. The Esoteric Intellectual: This type of guru was never like his followers existing on a higher plane. However, he is generous and is gladly sharing his knowledge for a stipend of what you will earn by joining his flock.
3. The Mystic: This type, although related to #2, is very different. He claims supernatural chart reading ability and general future reading skills.
My contention is that this recent proliferation of market gurus is an indication of a near short term top. The last of the public is being drawn in to lubricate the machine for a rapid descent. The only unknown is when.

Now you almost described me, lol.

I trade stock index emini (NQ) and have a chat room. :D

Quote from marketsurfer:

Are you 1, 2 or 3? Or, as I guess, a mixture of 1&2?

No, I am unique. :D :D :D

If seriously, talking about NQ trading live not too long to make conclusions, but try to be closer to #1, explaining things as simple as possible.

I looked through the dozen or so that I meet with occasionally. They do not fit what you made up.

Since you wrote it long ago, why not chuck it and read a few books that write up the gurus thoroughly.

Quote from Humpy:

There is so much bumph out there on the web about trading that it sometimes needs a thread such as this to sort the crap from the gems of wisdom. I put for value because it is expensive to try and evaluate some web sites that charge mega amounts of money. Even so many of those are just re-gurgitating stuff that's on the net for free.

So where have you found those gems ? Perhaps on a forum such as Elite ? Or even a video on UTube ? I was watching a very instructive vid only yesterday about Karen supertrader. If options are your game.

Books ? Few better than Market Wiwards imho

I hope this thread will be helpful even to traders who have been at this game for some time but feel they could improve.

RN..my Guru...
Trading is like black hole suck everything in...need to be cautious when dealing with it...very cautious.. should just give only little to it..otherwise you will get dragged into it..

It is at these extreme times that people have been prone to flock to the Messiah type of guru who will lead forth to the Promised Land, like Moses.

Can't quite think of anyone as yet but who knows .................?
People like Ed Saykota are still around but sorta faded into the brush somewhere. Plenty of hopefuls like Bollinger ? Lombardi ?

The strange thing is that just about all the top SPs on Zulu trade are from unlikely places like Russia, China etc.

Who is RN ?

Quote from atticus:

You should only follow those who can produce 10x on capital in CL with a 20 Sharpe.

Atticus, I'm flattered!

:p :p :p

RN changed my entire view of trading several years ago with a single reply to a question I asked him via PM. The stuff he shared was pretty much the technical stuff I've been posting since. I took it and ran with it. What a journey, and what great rewards.

Cornix was a guru for me, just watching him trade.

AustinP videos, good stuff.

Brooks and Volman, great ideas.

All of it requires a lot of work, though. Everyone wants some magic elixir, but it's work, work, work!

P.S. I'd love to give Bighog the major credit, but I never listened to him. Not listening to him was the most expensive thing I ever did in my life.
