Best Foods to Eat (Health-wise)

I'm hoping to start a good discussion of what people eat to promote good health. I know everyone tends to have opinions on the matter but it would be great if people can share things that they eat and drink on a consistent basis that they'd recommend.

I am not an expert on the subject at all but would like to learn more.

Here are a few things I consume regularly:

Low fat yogurt
Walnuts
Raspberries
Only whole wheat bread with at least 4 grams of fiber per slice
seafood (salmon, catfish, shrimp, crab)
Asparagus
Dark Chocolate

Those are all good. What I found is that there are nutrients that you cannot have enough of from food. You have to supplement them. I would add range fed beef, chicken and eggs to the list. Your best seafood might be krill or sardines, they are small, short-lived, and not that predatory, they don't collect up mercury much and the krill are from low pollution waters to begin with. All your fish should be from the wild, not farmed.

Do you buy the little cans of sardines ?? How much do you eat & what are the benefits ??
Thanks.

I just started eating quinoa, which is a grain & it's loaded with protein & iron.

True, we do all die anyway, but the way we feel while we are alive is definitely not the same for everyone. I dont know about you but I definitely feel much better when I dont eat like shit.

Pure water, I heard everything else is bad for you.

I saw a bumper sticker once that read:

Eat Healthy
Stay Fit
Die Anyway

Oh I understand and don't disagree. Nor was I necessarily trying to drag down your thread as much as it probably looks on the surface.

I did have a brief encounter with a very decrepit and elderly gentleman years ago on a hotel elevator. He and his daughter or assistant (he could barley walk) got on the elevator. He took one look at me and said "don't ever get old son - there's no percentage in it."

I've never forgotten that, years later I went with my wife to visit her grandmother in a nursing home. I think I know what he meant.
