In Bulgaria the CGT is 10% flat. That is on any income. If you trade EU equities the CGT is 0%. Cost of living is also quite low compared to the UK, Germany, Holland and so on...US dividends are charged at 10%. EU dividends at 5%.
Social life in Sofia is quite nice. In addition all of the low cost air travel companies fly daily from and to Sofia. Definetily worth to try.

Problem is corruption. If they find out you make good money you are at risk. What you surely should not do is trade thru a company as all balances that you have to deposit are publicly available for everybody. So if you make big money they will find you.
Have been there and done that.
Sofia is not bad but if you stay there a long time you get quickly bored. Better go to Varna or Burgas.
There are a couple of threads on the topic already, Gibraltar is a good choice, according to local lawyers taxes on.active trading would be nil and residency is easy for EU citizens. Just spent 5 days there and we might make the move soon. A little less claustrophobic than I first felt when visiting the place a few years back- after visiting more parts ofthe new city,and an especially good choice if u are a spanish speaker. I d prefer Gib to Jersey because of the spanish influence but Jersey seems to work the same as well
Getting the right information either through lawyers or authorities proved a bit tricky though in.Gib, which is bit offputing. Still good surprise so far for us as Mrs can apparently enter the country as easily as EU citizens - we got very different info from law s office and the first border control agent she met there. We figured out the current regulation only after more online digging and a second entry for her into Gib.
Wouldn t be cool to learn after a couple of years the tax info from the lawyer was wrong as well.
Had we known in advance Mrs could stay in Gib rather than wait across the border we would have planned a longer stay there this summer.Quite an instructive and pleasant stay.

I guess everyone will have a different experience. Whats a fact is the low tax rates and the good social life. Sofia is 5x The size of Varna and 10x the size of Burgas. Their benefit is that they are seaside cities. Everyone will have a different experience and can decide for themselves if there is corruption in Bulgaria or if “they” will find you. (Whoever “they” are). You have to actually spend time in each city to determine which one suits your lifestyle the best.

My very question - have you lived in Italy, did you try to trade from Italy? Do you have a family, kids to go in school or teachers to be hired for the homeschool, use facilities in case of emergency?
Well, thanks for complimenting my intellect I guess. Someone made a mistake assuming you're American and I corrected them, it was as simple as that -- no need to write an essay on it. Any real trader knows that trading is profitable "sometimes", anyone saying otherwise is lying or just hasn't traded long enough. Obviously in the long term I'm profitable but I prefer to look at my performance critically, you on the other hand always make money just like 90% on ET. Shockingly they have enough time for ET while sunbathing on their yachts off Monaco.
Yes I agree, Bulgaria is fine, nice, friendly, cost efficient but corrupt and criminal beyond our normal experience and sometimes imagination. Even if you are trading only privately via US brokers --- you`re never certain that your bank manager, tax advisor, taxation officer etc has not an informal communicative link with structures interested in OPM.
I don't share any personal info. But let's say that if I would live in Italy, it would be less then 1 hour away from my native country, so in case of any problems I can go there for medical treatments or whatsoever.
Italy has good schools, in Liguria you can meet Russians as there are Russians living in the area Cote d'Azur (France) and Liguria (Italy). I know of Russians who live there with small children so probably schools are no problem. Did you have Russian schools on the Bahamas???
