Quote from atticus:

Definitely not placebic. Buccal is at least 100x more effective at reaching therapeutic plasma levels. The concern that the conjugated-forms are inactive, but it is now believed that the bulk of the in-vivo activity is attributable to the glucuronide and sulfate forms.

One way of administering resveratrol in humans appears to be buccal delivery, that is without swallowing, by direct absorption through the inside of the mouth. When one mg of resveratrol in 50 mL solution was retained in the mouth for one min before swallowing, 37 ng/ml of free resveratrol were measured in plasma two minutes later. This level of unchanged resveratrol in blood can only be achieved with 250 mg of resveratrol taken in a pill form.

i am still skeptical about resveratrol great usefulness for people with any currently available delivery types. here is my reasoning:
it is very easy to show the results in fat mice: split them in two groups (resveratrol vs placebo) and monitor them on a tredmill for 1-2 months. the mice become noticeably physically fit just by taking
resveratrol. now where is the data in humans (using buccal delivery or whatever other delivery method)?

the experiment should be easy to do as there is no shortage of overweight people and there is not shortage of resveratrol on the shelves in the stores. do scientists/doctors not care about one of the greatest medical discoveries of the century? do they not care about doing a quick and easy study and publishing a huge paper? the simplest explanation is that the effect is small if any.

Don't take it. You want to get into some masturbatory circular argument where you repeat yourself. It's not a license to eat a Wendy's triple Baconator meal and wash it down with some resveratrol.

some of us prefer to have some sort of reasonable evidence that what they take in is actually good for them. but placebos can do wonders...

"It's not a license to eat a Wendy's triple Baconator meal and wash it down with some resveratrol. " - this is how it works in mice. eventually this will be the same for people maybe with a slightly different drug.

Both sets of mice were monitored on the treadmill.

i guess so: one had to compare resveratrol vs control. my recollection is that what made mice fit was resveratrol not the exercise per se.

Worst work out of my past 10 weeks. Went boozing last night, and I am on almost no sleep. I get to the gym with a bad attitude due to a slight hangover. I can't get myself going. To make matters worse, there is this very pretty woman, somewhere in her thirties, that gets on the treadmill, and runs for a friggin hour without breaking a sweat  Then, a man well in his fifties gets on the treadmill and jams it and does the same but at a higher speed. Then, a pregnant woman gets on the treadmill and runs like a gazelle!!! Pissed, I jam mine treadmill up only to get a terrible cramp on my side. I worked through it since this has happened to me before, but it never really went away. The alcohol probably dehydrated me and I didn't hydrate very well. I managed a light work out in-spite of myself, but it was the first time I felt like I was fighting my body.

Booze, women and no sleep don't mix with exerting myself the day after - not for me. I finished the week a shade below 184 lbs.

Where is the above quote from? If the above is true, why not just dissolve some pills in water and hold it in your mouth for 15 min?
