Best book on Lifting

Agreed, that particular workout favors the smaller guys. Crossfit workouts cover the whole breadth though. Did this one a few days ago: 5 rounds for time of 12 deadlifts, 9 power cleans, 6 push presses with 135 lbs. My time was 12:10.

Btw, did the above mentioned workout last night wearing a 20 lb vest in 46:20 (btw, I'm 6'0, 180 lbs). C'mon, anyone here think they're in shape and can handle some intensity?

I hadn't come across anyone outside competitive/pro sports doing power cleans, etc. for years.

These babies make you FAST!

As you continue with your efforts, it is quite possible that your definition of what is aesthetically pleasing may change along the way... mine did. "Filling out the shirt" is only one way of looking good. :)

Nice thread, guys. Lots of good info here.

Yes, quite true. I heard that they found muscles on Bruce Lee they didn't even know existed.

We should have the ET Ironman contest - 100 mile bicycle race, 5 mile swim, 10 mile marathon. However wins, gets to manage and trade $20M on a 50:50 split. The race/contest should be in exotic James Bond places...

An Ironman triathlon is 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26mile run. My best time is 10:12 at Ironman Canada 2008. Post your times and I'll tell you where to send the check, lol.

Nice one..... :D

What kind of routine would one have to diligently adhere to in order to get that level of superbody?

I'm really curious since I've never really wanted to be big - my goal is to be very very strong without the bulky muscles

I have the balance part down so I know that once I develop the right muscles, I will have superhuman strength.... lol

Finally, a couple of people who know what they're talking about. But I don't know about the one-legged squats, though. If you go all out, you may be risking an abdominal hernia. Some people, about 10% I think, have a slightly larger space than average in the center column between their abs. This makes them susceptible to such hernias, particularly when the movement is unbalanced (i.e., one leg). So, personally, I wouldn't mess with that movement. Further, being as lazy as I am, I prefer to work both legs (or arms) simultaneously rather than spend twice as much time to get the job done.

i know your not this stupid but that just your ego has taken over here.

By "vertical" obviously is not meant "perfectly" vertical. Just as the conventional rule for lifting by keeping the back straight does not mean PERFECTLY straight.

c'mon man admit it :D

Thanks. I have been naturally strong. The fit part, uh, that left about ten years ago, but it only started to go south recently because even though I was overweight, I still had a reasonable masculine physique. But recently, I really started to get soft, and that was it.

One thing that I didn't realize is that even though I know I am getting stronger, there is this layer of fat around my body that is hiding all the physique underneath. I can't wait to get to 175 lbs. My wrestling weight was 145 solid, but that seems nearly impossible now.

go for the 145. 175 is way too heavy for you.
