...Clarence Bass...
I remember this guy from my days of reading Muscle & Fitness over 20 years ago. As I recall, he's a lawyer, so it only follows that his column should be called "Ripped." :D

It goes without saying that any intense exercise regimen should only be undertaken with your physician's approval.

f^ck burst training... f^ck tabata sedentary 45+ yr olds should NOT train balls all out!

thats recipe for cardiac arrest.

pace yourself..safely. what's the hurry as long as your exercising

and eating a low fat plant diet :D

Quote from nitro:

Has anybody noticed that there are as many "systems" to lose fat, get eight packs, get a flat tummy, etc etc etc, as there are trading systems and opinions on the market. And yeah, all in a ten minute work out too!

I am not being cynical. It seems to me that just about any simple physics that burns more calories than you take in, must lose weight.

I do know that there are better more purposeful ways to do anything. Two people working equally hard don't get the same results, even when normalized for genetic makeup. But geesys, this exercise thing is almost a religion!

A bit more to it than that. How fast your furnace is burning has a lot to do with it. I saw you say if you had some more muscle you burn more. Very true. Also you want to eat many small meals a day. It's a bit counter-intuitive, but if that furnace is going 24/7 you will cut very fast. So people may eat the same calories but have very different results. I eat donuts, so I only talk a good game here. Believe it or not, someone who eats 6 small meals a day, will get ripped much faster than someone starving themselves with water diets.

Quote from Gabfly1:

I don't think anyone suggested going from sedentary middle age to all out intensity at the drop of a hat. I certainly didn't.

why should anyone take risk going 'all out" other than an athlete in competition? do you recommend going all in your net worth on any stock? why risk blowing out your heart?

That's really interesting. And something quick to do. I'm gonna give that one a go. Thx
