Best Alternative to US Citizenship

One idea for someone really adverse to paying taxes. You could live in Vancouver, WA (no state income tax) and do most of your big ticket shopping, right across the river in Portland, OR (no sales tax). Vancouver has reasonable property taxes, access to big city ammenities in Portland and is a recreationalist's dream come true.

...As an immigrant to this country, watching it destroyed by the current administration is a sad day for me.
Then perhaps now would be a good time for you to move to John Galt's island, where you can barter woven baskets and such. And please be sure to take along as many like-minded people as you can find, especially the impossibly self-righteous specimens here at ET.

For the last 10 years, this has been as obvious as the sun rising in the East.

How is it that even those who are paying attention seem to not "get it"?

Electing Obama has HASTENED THE DESTRUCTION OF THE USA!

America FORMERLY was the "last bastion of capitalism, personal freedom, and Constitutional protections of individual property.. a meritocracy".... which is why millions coveted the thought of immigrating here. Not any more, Dorothy. :(

I completely agree. It's very sad.

It's a general rule. If no state income tax, then high property tax. Governments need to get their necessary revenues somewhere.

It's only "necessary" because politicians' unnecessary spending.

It's interesting to note that CT just raised taxes to 6.5% for anyone who actually earns enough to live in CT and yet the property tax is pretty close to no income tax Texas.

hmmmm....I've always liked Texas.

They respect your CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.. and when push comes to shove, might just succeed from the Union...

Yup, looking more attractive all the time..

If it just weren't so DAMNED HOT AND WINDY!

they won't succeed, it won't happen... i'd respect them if they did, but they won't...

Who can know?

3 counties in Texas "succeeded" from Social Security in 1980 and went the private route. Today, those who would have now been receiving Social Security checks.. are currently receiving checks from private insurance companies... 4 TIMES GREATER MONTHLY CHECKS THAN SS RECIPIENTS!!

Yep....and the Gorebull Warming crowd would love nothing more than to make air conditioning illegal or severely restricted to smoke out those damned Texas varmints.

I used to go to Texas on business a lot. Always like it - weather and all.
