Another point Sanders scores high on. I get that he's a self-declared socialist, but man the guy has a lot of really good viewpoints.

If a socialist is elected as leader then the socialist mob will need weapons to take down the existing democratic institutions and impose their vision.

Um yeah Bernie, that's because what we have seen has already happened. But you are wrong if you think strong gun laws like banning handguns and assault weapons would have no effect in the future.

Bernie is the left's Ron/Rand Paul. Half right and half nuts.

I do believe his adjective "strongest" overstates his case a lot.

I don't believe it in the case of Sanders.

However this is a good time to remember that Lenin believed his followers needed guns to take on the Russian police and government organs... and foster the revolution. Early on - aligned with this objective - Lenin supported the liberalization of gun laws in Russia. Of course later he supported disarming anyone opposed to him.
