Any thoughts on the potential Bernanke replacements, and how dovish each of them are?

Is there any chance that any of them could abandon QE and actually allow a deep recession / depression to occur?

I don't think this will change things hugely. Obama will appoint Yellen or another dove, Romney talks tough but he only did that when Rick Perry started to go full pitbull on the fed(before he never said bad things about bernanke), he didn't want to lose the Tea Party vote. He is likely to appoint Greg Mankiw

He certainly won't appoint anyone who will bring a recession

If Obama is reelected, Summers.
If Romney, given the governor's rhetoric regarding Bernanke, i'd wager he'd choose Taylor.
