Berlin losing patience over Opel (GM) rescue

Berlin is growing impatient with Opel, the German carmaker, and General Motors, its embattled US parent, for their failure to come up with a convincing restructuring plan, a condition for the state aid they are seeking.

A meeting on Friday between top GM executives including Fritz Henderson, chief operating officer, Carl-Peter Forster, president of GM Europe, and Hans Demant, head of Opel, with Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, economics minister, brought little progress, a Berlin insider said.
